Daily Tarot for October 22, 2013

5-pentll

Today we have the Five of Pentacles. The Five of Pentacles is a card that signifies poverty or setback of some kind whether it is financially or otherwise.  While many of us in the western world have never experienced real lack in the extreme, this card is about feeling like you don’t have basic needs met. Those basic needs can be food, shelter on the physical level, or they can mean emotional needs. We are social creatures and being out in the cold on a spiritual or emotional level is truly lacking in human basic necessity.

Perhaps you feel unsupported by those you depend on, or have been ostracized from your community, have taken an unpopular stand and feel alone in your view, or even suffered a period of ill health.

Regardless of what the situation is, the feeling is that of hardship and there is struggle to just keep one foot in front of the other.  What we need to remember during times of challenge, is that we are never really alone though we might feel we are. In the background of this card you will see the stained glass window of a church. The people in this card are immersed in their difficulty and do not see it. This happens sometimes when we get so mired in the muck of life that we think are alone in our struggle and we don’t see that help is just one step away. Sometimes we go so far as to isolate ourselves during the times when we really should be reaching out. Whatever that situation is, remember you are never the only one who’s ever been there! Talk to others, find your people!  Learn from this experience and someday you will become the wounded healer, the wise teacher, or the Hierophant for someone else.

  1. Thank you for linking to my own article on the Five of Pentacles. I really like your great notion about how learning lessons from this card can lead to one serving in Hierophant capacity (a “larger” or “greater” 5, or V) for someone else down the road…

  2. Chris says:

Thank You Miria! A VERY timely card today- for me!

  3. (I’m being very quiet on this card today. If it’s mine, it’s upside down or something. Sshhh.)
