Happy Samhain everyone! I have drawn some very appropriate cards for the day!

The Hanged Man

The Hanged Man is the Fool of the mid cycle. At this point in his journey, the Fool feels like he needs to start again with something new… The Fool has reached a Mid Life Crisis. In order to begin something new and move on to a new cycle of life learning it often means having to give something up. The Hanged Man asks you to examine your life, what needs to be sacrificed to move forward?

It’s intriguing that the Death Card would show up on Samhain! Spend some time today thinking about your loved ones who have gone on before you. Put out some nice photos and some flowers, sift through some memories, maybe play their favorite music.

The Death Card is about transition, so right beside this Hanged Man, we can recognize that we need to move on, and leave something behind to become something new and better.  What sacrifices do we need to make to move through this transition?

The Queen of Wands is a symbol of self sovereignty. This is always a wonderful goal, to be the ruler of your own life, and your own destiny. To be the most authentic self you can be.

Samhain is considered to be the New Year‘s Eve for many of the Pagan traditions.  Today is the Death of the old year, who do we want to become in the new cycle? Ask yourself today what sacrifices you need to make to make this transition. Some of these sacrifices may be small such as giving up fatty foods, or sugar so that we become masters of our own health. For some of us the sacrifices may be much more. Are there relationships that are holding you back? Are you stuck in a job that is just not fulfilling your creative needs? With these cards on THIS day, it’s a sign we need to consider these issues very seriously.

(On a personal note, again, I can see exactly what this reading means for me. Tomorrow is the first day of Nanowrimo… national novel writing month.  My daughter is participating on the student level. In order to support her while at the same time achieving one of my own personal dreams, I will take the journey with her. What sacrifices will I be making over the month to make the transition to becoming a novelist who bangs out a 50,000 word novel in a month? (See Rusty? She’s holding a Pen! LOL!) Let’s see, time, sleep, favorite television programs in the evening, clean laundry… the list goes on I’m sure! Just as an interesting note, the Hanged Man is thought to have originated from the Norse God Odin who’s greatest gift to mankind is writing.  He did this by the self sacrifice of hanging himself from a tree for nine days at the end of which he had a revelation in which he discovered the secret of the runes.)

Blessings all.

Daily Tarot for October 30, 2013

Good morning all!

Today I am going to move onto something a bit different. Mainly this is because I once again drew the Knight of Wands. We have had the Knight of Wands often. It is not uncommon to draw the same cards over and over when dealing with certain issues. I have even found that the same cards will come up for the same people for years until they actually make the transition they need to make! Also, I have to confess something. Yesterday I drew the Knight of Wands too. Honestly, I was so tired of seeing him, and writing about him, that I put him aside and drew the Sun instead!  I thought I’d better take a closer look at why he was riding his horse up to the door again today. So in order to do this, I drew two more cards, the Six of Swords and the Queen of Pentacles.

knightwandsgilded

Knight of Wands as we know is a bold fellow who likes to take risks. He is courageous and passionate not to mention somewhat cocky. He encourages you to move one way or the other and to stop messing around. There is a warning with this Knight, that any risk you take should be well calculated before taking it.  He can also come up to signify a physical move in residence.

The Six of Swords is another card we have seen often. Emotionally it can mean low lying depression, or “feeling the blues”, or just beginning to move out of that place of sadness but not quite willing yet to emerge all the way. This is another card of movement. The card can signify Movement from one state of being to another, to hopefully a better set of circumstances either metaphorically, changing a state of mind or physically in taking an actual journey and changing location.

Having these two cards together (the Knight of Wands and the Six of Swords) indicates to me that we may actually be talking about a physical journey.

The Queen of Pentacles is a big hearted, nurturing person. Queens ask you to think and feel as they think and feel and this Queen is feels generous, supportive and nurturing. She is also very practical and trustworthy, and of course good with money.

It’s time to go and visit your mother. If you have a long distance relationship, it’s time to go and visit your girlfriend!

Maybe you are deciding to move to a new location where you feel you can be more secure?  This is metaphorical as well, moving from a state of emotional unrest to a more calm and grounded stated of mind.

For me, the meaning is quite obvious. I will have to brave the elements, and drive through the flooding rain water we are getting today to visit my friendly female escrow processor at the title company (and you know what’s even funnier? The name of the street the title company is on is… get this…. WATERWAY AVE!) … sigh. I was so hoping I’d get to stay home!

SunGilded

Success!  Glory! What a lovely card! Both in illustration and in meaning! Things have been rough going the last several weeks ( We’ve had the ten of wands SO many times!) So it’s so good to see this card! Truthfully, I draw this card so infrequently that at first I didn’t recognize it!

In the Gilded Tarot we see the sun, blazing down in all its glory upon all the planets and all the symbols of the zodiac. Sharing brilliance and illumination with all things everywhere! It’s a card of expansion! Joy! Confidence!

In other decks, quite often the illustration shows a child on a horse riding with a sense of confidence, excitement and victory. With the Sun, we are the golden child, we can do no wrong. We have confidence in ourselves,  we will  be recognized for our abilities and have our moment of glory!

Whatever is our undertaking of the day, be assured we will succeed! Enjoy this moment in the sun. It is often hard won!

Blessings,

Miria

KingpentGild

Good morning all!

Today we have a card bearing advice for us, the King of Pentacles.

When a King is drawn he is there to tell us “do as I do”, “act as I act”.

This King is the most practical of the four. He is well grounded, handles money responsibly, makes wise investments erring on the side of caution. He works hard and steady on a goal, keeping an even pace, and he achieves those goals often making money at it along the way.

Emotionally, he takes things in stride, and maintains a calm and diplomatic approach and avoids mood swings that really aren’t productive anyhow.

The King of Pentacles is reliable and keeps his promises. If others are losing it around him, he’s the rock. If there is some job that needs doing, he does it efficiently and he does it well whether it’s fixing something that needs fixing or handing in a report on time.

Whatever it is you will face during the day just ask yourself WWKOPD?

Weekend Spread for October 25, 2013

Happy Friday everyone!

What a funny looking reading we have this weekend! HA! Looks like we ask Dad for money, blow it all drinking with friends then get kicked out of the house!  I certainly hope this isn’t the case for any of you!

6-pentaclesG

Seriously though, the Six of Pentacles is about being in a position to give to charity, or perhaps receiving charity.  If you are the “giver”, you need to remember that a true gift is one that is given without strings attached.  Giving or lending money often creates an imbalance of power in a relationship. This is why it’s not a good idea to loan money to friends.  If it’s a relative that creates a whole different set of circumstances doesn’t it? You need to be careful of lending money; you may never get it back. Are you willing to forgive that transgression? If you are the receiver, you must also keep that power gap in mind. Not paying debts back will cause friction in friendships and when it’s family the bad vibrations can cause rifts in extended family relationships as they ripple outward and family members begin to take sides.

3-cupsG

Now comes the question of what you plan to do with this money. The three of cups is a card about getting together to celebrate with friends and family. Perhaps this money will allow you to achieve a long sought after goal that is worth celebrating, then again, maybe you just want to party and drink it away! Make sure to make responsible decisions with the funds you have available to you.

6-swordsG

Next we have the six of swords; this card is generally about movement from one place to another either physically or metaphorically. Perhaps this money is going to allow you to move into better a circumstance that really is something to celebrate!

Is anyone attending charity parties this weekend? Looks like the money raised will help others move into better circumstances.

Do any of you have relatives that  living with you that need to move into their own space? Looks like they are finally moving on! Yea!

Is anyone waiting for a loan to come through so you can move into a new house? Looks like it’s all coming together! Yea!

Anyone mooching from their parents, partying it away and getting kicked out of the house? Well, YOU might not be celebrating, but your parents certainly are!

Whatever it may be, have a great weekend!

JusticeG

Hello all! So I am wondering how many of you had some special surprise or celebration that brought a little leap of joy to your life yesterday with that Four of Wands?  I know I did!

Using my Guilded Tarot deck today, I’ve chosen one of the”biggies”, Justice. I have to say I’m happy to have chosen this card today. This is a really beautiful card. The Goddess of Justice stands blindfolded holding two globes of brilliant golden light that shoot streams bright rays into a sun-shaped disc, symbolizing illumination and truth.  Justice is blind, and the scales must be kept in balance. This is what the Ancient Egyptians called Maat, equilibrium in the universe.

If things have seemed out of balance for you lately (I know they have for me!) today they will start evening out. If you feel you have been wronged in some way, rest assured, reparations will be made! (This is what I tell myself every time some jerk cuts me off in traffic, or would rather run me off the road than let me merge… your day is coming buddy! So you better make things right with Maat!) If you are being put into the position of judge today, be insistent on fairness. Weigh all decisions carefully. If you have been less than honest, today is the day to come clean. Recognize your own part in events and take responsibility for your actions. Truth will eventually prevail, and today is that day!
